The Indonesia Open 2019 has finally started on Tuesday, 16 July 2019. It was the first round of the top half of the draw from the five discipline that day, the bottom of the draw was going to take place the next day. Finals will take place on the 21st. Favourite’s to win in each category are all the world number one’s Tai Tzu Ying in the Women Single’s, Minions (Kevin and Gideon) in the Men’s Doubles. Both the Women’s Doubles and the Mixed Doubles are a sealed category for the Japanese team and Chinese team respectively, although we could see some upsets along the way. The Japanese will not go easy because their top three pairs in the world are eyeing for the throne. Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota the defending champion is expected to go further. In the Mixed Doubles, Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong also expected to thrive by their unstoppable win streak this year.

Jonatan Christie the world no 7 won against Rasmus Gemke of Denmark 21-17, 24-22 in straight sets on court number three. Jonatan is expected to shine as he won the last two individual tournament (Australian and New Zealand Open Super 300). Anthony Sinisuka Ginting also won against Lu Guangzu of China in rubber games 20-22, 23-21, 21-18. He is also expected to shine in this tournament. Ginting could possibly meet Kento Momota from Japan the world number 1 in the Men’s Singles in the Quarter-Final on Friday.

Indonesia’s world no 5. Greysia Polii and Apriani Rahayu also through to the second round by beating Ayako Sakuramoto & Yukiko Takahata in straight sets 21-15, 21-16 in 41 minutes. The world number one Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo from Indonesia also won from a thriller match against Takuto Inoue & Yuki Kaneko 20-22, 21-16, 21-14 in 56 minutes. Last match on showdown is the unstoppable Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong from china the number one Mixed Doubles pair. They won against their compatriots He Jiting & Du Yue 21-19, 21-8 in just 28 minutes.
